ONLINE
The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Sangwon Jung, Director) present a special online project, ‘Oh! Pansori' series from April 6 through June 29 on the KCCLA YouTube channel.
Pansori is a genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer and Chunhyangga is one of five surviving Pansori tales. It is a love story between Sung Chunhyang and Yi Mongryong, and despite differences in social class, the two fell in love. Chunhyangga finishes with a happy ending. It is also a Korean folk tale.
On the second ‘Chunhyangga’ episode, students (Chris, Elodie and Dong Han) learned ‘Saranga’ lyrics, how to express Pansori by each role, and how to make better vibration in Pansori. (If you want to know more about Pansori vocalization, click https://youtu.be/aia_d4c8p0c)
