ONLINE
The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Sangwon Jung, Director) presents a special online project, 'Oh! Pansori' series from April 6 through June 29 on the KCCLA YouTube channel.
Pansori is a genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer and Chunhyangga is one of five surviving Pansori tales. It is a love story between Sung Chunhyang and Yi Mongryong, and despite differences in social class, the two fell in love. Chunhyangga finishes with a happy ending. It is also a Korean folk tale.
How did Koreans express their love through Pansori lyrics? On the third 'Chunhyangga' episode, students (Chris, Elodie and Dong Han) learned more about 'Saranga' lyrics, how to express love by using food. (If you want to know more about Pansori beat, click https://youtu.be/G_QtEc8WusE)
