The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Director Haedon Lee), in collaboration with Korea's National Theater (NTK), announced that it will host the third installment of the "Performing Arts Content Screening National Theater Series" titled 'Youth Concert' on Thursday, May 29.
This screening is designed to help young audiences experience Korean traditional music in a more approachable and enjoyable way. It features a youth-oriented program by the National Orchestra of Korea, known as a “must-visit spot for beginners in Korean traditional music.” The 70-member Korean traditional orchestra will deliver a grand performance, blending dazzling sound, lighting, and visuals to create a concert experience of the highest quality.
The concert offers a diverse program aimed at sparking intellectual curiosity and artistic sensibility in young audiences through Korean orchestral music. Highlights include "House of Emotions" by composer Choi Ji-hye and "The Time of Dew" by composer Hwang Ho-joon, both showcasing the essence of Korean traditional orchestral music. The program also includes orchestral arrangements of the background music (BGM) and original soundtrack (OST) from the popular mobile game "Cookie Run: Kingdom" and BTS’s "Mikrokosmos".
The finale, "New Boat Song" by composer Won Il, transforms toys such as soccer balls, squeaky hammers, and vuvuzelas into musical instruments. The sight of orchestra members performing with these toys is sure to captivate the audience.
