'Harmony for the Future' Concert

(Los Angeles, CA) To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the US-Korea Alliance, The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles and The Music Center of Los Angeles County will host the "Harmony for the Future" concert on Friday, August 11th, at 8:00 pm at The Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall.

This year marks the significant milestone of 70 years between ROK-US Alliance since the signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty between the two countries in 1953. The "Harmony for the Future" concert will further enhance the global comprehensive strategic alliance between the two nations in various fields.

World-renowned soprano Sumi Jo, who has been actively performing around the world, will delight LA fans with a selection of operas and Korean songs, presenting precious masterpieces. Sumi Jo's first performance in Los Angeles after eight years is expected to create unforgettable memories for music fans visiting the Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The concert will also feature artists from various genres that showcase the global prominence of K-culture. Hee Seo and Joo Won Ahn, principal dancers from the American Ballet Theatre, one of the world's top three ballet companies, will present a world-class ballet performance. Gi Cheol Wang, Pansori maestro (Korean traditional narrative singing), and The National High School of Korean Traditional Arts’ team will take the stage, performing high-level Korean traditional music and dance.

In anticipation of the upcoming performance, soprano Sumi Jo expressed her enthusiasm for the performance, "At this time when we overcome the challenges of COVID-19 and embrace a new beginning, I would like to convey the charm and passion of K-culture to the world in this celebration of the 70th anniversary of the ROK-US Alliance. Let us create a moment full of hope and excitement as the friendship between the US and Korea and the beautiful Korean culture meet on this stage. Let's start our journey towards a shining future together!"

Director Sangwon Jung of the KCCLA added, "This concert, organized in collaboration with The Music Center, has been planned since last year to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the ROK-US Alliance. Through K-artists, we aim to appreciate the excellence of Korean culture on one stage while deepening the friendship, trust, and alliance between the two countries through culture. I express deep gratitude to the proud Korean artists who participated in this event and to The Music Center."

This concert is free, but due to high demand and to fairly distribute ticket opportunities, KCCLA will give away about 700 seats through a random computer draw for the general public.
