The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA), in partnership with The Korean Ministry of the Interior and Safety's National Archives of Korea, proudly presents a special photography exhibition: 70 Years of ROK-U.S. Alliance in Photos, “We Go Together!”. The exhibition will take place from August 9th - September 15th, 2023 at the Korean Cultural Center, LA, located at 5505 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90036.

The main theme of the exhibition, "We Go Together" symbolizes the alliance between ROK-U.S., since ROK General Paik Sun-yup (1920-2020) met his ally, U.S. General Douglas MacArthur, in February, 1951 and said those exact words. 2023 marks the 70th anniversary of the October 1st, 1953 signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty between the United States and the Republic of Korea.

The National Archives of Korea created this special collection of historical photos and media to be exhibited in the United States to commemorate this important milestone. More than 70 photos show the history of Korea and the United States overcoming hardships and adversity through the difficult years of the 1950-53 Korean War, emerging later as an ironclad alliance. They also illustrate how this unique alliance has endured through time, extending beyond the military to include shared civic values, economic interests, and cultural ties.

The featured works on the display include photographs of the signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty Between the United States and the Republic of Korea and the Incheon Landing Operation, which significantly influenced the course of the war on September 15th, 1950. Additionally, there will be other photos chronicling the establishment of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command, the Republic of Korea's journey to becoming an economic powerhouse through aid and reconstruction amid the ruins of the war, and lively photos of cultural exchanges through the decades.

The exhibition is open to the public, and it will run until September 15th, 2023.
