The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Director Jung Sang-won) has invited the SoriNuri Art Group from the Gugak National High School, a cradle of young Korean traditional music talents, to perform at Zipper Hall on June 4th at 7:00 pm.

Gugak National High School upholds the tradition of Korean music education from the Silla, Goryeo, and Joseon Dynasties. Elevated to its current status in 1972, it offers 13 majors, including Gayageum, Geomungo, Daegeum, Piri, Haegeum, and Korean traditional dance. With over 5,000 alumni, the school's mission is to provide top-notch artistic education to gifted musicians, dancers, theorists, and composers across Korea. More than 90% of its graduates enter universities, including Seoul National University, Hanyang University, Ewha Womans University, and Korea National University of Arts. Tuition and entrance fees are government-covered, with various scholarships available. The SoriNuri Art Groups promote Korean traditional music, performing locally and internationally. They hold several annual concerts and actively engage with the public.

During their visit to LA, the group will perform at South High School in Torrance on May 30th and Fairfax High School in LA on May 31st. They will showcase the excellence and charm of Gugak through a variety of programs, including Taepyeongmu, Fan Dance, Samulnori, and Gugak orchestra pieces.

Additionally, a concert will be held at Zipper Hall at the Colburn School in downtown LA on the evening of June 4th. The performance will include pieces such as Kang Sun-young's style 'Taepyeongmu', Samulnori, Fan Dance, Contemporary Dance, and a Gugak orchestra featuring 25 students performing an Arirang medley, New Boat Ride, and the national anthems of both Korea and the USA.

The Gugak National High School's performance on June 4th is a free event open to the public, but advance reservations are required. Reservations can be made by visiting www.kccla.org.
