Date: Sat, May 03, 2025 - Sun, May 04, 2025
Time: 04:00PM - 07:30PM

The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA), directed by Sangwon Jung, announced that it will host a special performance titled "Voices of LA ? Korea" in collaboration with the LA-based chamber orchestra Delirium Musicum on May 3 and May 4 in Santa Monica and Downtown LA. The event commemorates the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation.

"Voices of LA" is a new project by the Delirium Musicum chamber orchestra, celebrating the rich and diverse cultural and musical traditions present within the LA community. For this series, the inaugural theme is "Korea", showcasing harmony between Korean traditional instruments and classical orchestra, as well as performances of works by Korean composers.

Led by violinist and artistic director Etienne Gara, Delirium Musicum draws inspiration from its multicultural identity, with members hailing from 10 countries across three continents. This project will feature three Korean musicians - violinist Yoo Eun Kim, violist Sung Jin Lee, and cellist Ju Lee. Additionally, four traditional Korean artists have been invited: Jiyun Song (Daegeum), gamin (Piri), DoYeon Kim (Gayageum and composer), and Ji Hye Kim (Korean percussionist and composer).

The performance program includes Bartok’s "Romanian Folk Dances", Jessie Montgomery’s Banner, and composer Jisoo Lee’s Jindo Arirang, which premiered in LA two years ago. Notably, Professor Taeksoo Kim of San Diego State University’s Budding-Blooming and invited artist Do Yeon Kim’s Traces and Currents will have their U.S. premieres during the event.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased through the Delirium Musicum website (www.deliriummusicum.com). For more details, visit the KCCLA website, or contact the organizers via email at kelly@kccla.org or by phone at (323) 936-7141.
